But We're on the Same Team! This is a 60- to 90-minute session that examines the real barriers to parental involvement and gives teachers strategies for building relationships with caregivers to support student success. Dr. Jessica takes teachers beyond the traditional reasons it's difficult to engage parents to the root of the problem, and then offers strategies on how to build successful partnerships to improve student behavior and academic performance. This is appropriate for teachers at schools where parental involvement is low.
Note: Dr. Jessica also offers a parent workshop that helps busy caregivers become more involved in their children's education.
Don't Smile before Christmas. This is a 60- to 90-minute session that gives teachers strategies for effectively managing behavior at school. Dr. Jessica explains developmental stages of childhood and how they affect classroom management, as well as other factors. Teachers will leave the session with short-and long-term strategies they can use to improve their classroom management and create a positive environment where learning can take place.
Note: Ongoing mentoring and support is available for teachers who are struggling with this. It includes observing student behavior, helping teachers create classroom management policies that work, providing feedback on implementation, and providing a written report to administrators.
